Beginner class:
This 8 hour introductory workshop teaches the student to work with Precious Metal Clay. Projects cover the essentials from shaping and texturing to torch-firing and finishing, with much more in between. Students lean how to roll out clay to even thickness, cut, texture, assemble in a solid manner, use paste, reconstitute clay, how to dry and check dryness, finishing prior to firing, individual torch-firing, kiln firing, polishing and oxidizing if desired.
All tools, consumables and other materials are available for use in class. The PMC is included in the price of the class. Ideally, at the end of this class each participant will take home three pieces of fine silver jewelry.
Projects: 1 pair of ear-dangles to be mounted after class, + 1 pendant with a back bail and a rooled out decorative coil or frame.
Price : 150 € at the studio in Morbihan in north-western France. (1-3 seats) - 190 € in Paris (4-6 seats).
2 Day Intensive
The first day covers the beginner class curriculum, while the second day covers projects which further ones knowledge of the material, with a total of 4-5 projects. This class is ideal for those who cannot take a full 3 day workshop but who still wish to discover other possibilities using low-fire clays: ring making, setting a CZ before firing, geometric / box construction.
Price : 300 € at the studio in Morbihan in the north-western France. (1-3 seats) - Dates and cost for Paris upon request.
3 day Workshop
Three consecutive days of non-stop learning! This workshop covers the Beginner and 2 Day Intensive courses but adds more advanced techniques and other forms of clay. Students will set a firable stone, make a ring, a box construction, learn to carve metal clay, learn to make a carved mold, use 2 part molding compound, make a hollow form, weave sheet metal clay, work with dry clay, apply and fire liquid gold “Aura 22”, finishing: matte or mirror finish ...
This workshop includes the use of low - fire and high –fire (28% shrinkage) metal clays, sheet metal clay, paste, liquid Aura 22k gold.
Price : 450 € at the studio in Morbihan in the north-western France. (1-3 seats) - 510€ in Paris (4-6 seats)
NOTE : Those who have already completed a Beginner class with me may take only the 2nd and 3rd day of the 3 day workshop, unless they would like to cover another similar but more challenging project the first day.
Advanced 3 day workshop
To further develop one’s knowledge and technical abilities. Please contact me for details.
All fine silver jewelry pieces made in class will be finished, polished and ready to take home at the end of class. In the event that a student doesn't have time to finish the project, the piece will be fired and mailed or held for the student to pick up later.
Conditions :
In order to save your seat a non-refundable payment of 40% is requested one month prior to the class date. The remaining balance is to be paid in full, the same day, at the end of the class. There are no refunds. You may transfer your reservation to another date or send someone in your place (please inform us in advance the person's full name and contact information). If a class needs to be cancelled (in particular for classes in Paris where a minimum of students is required) you will be given credit to take a class upon another date.
Workshop fees may also be used to purchase a Gift Certificate.
“Special Occasion” class: I am at your disposal to study and guide you through a special project you may have in mind which you would like to make for yourself or to give as a unique, personalized gift for a special occasion (Valentine’s Day, Baptism, Birthday, Baby shower, Wedding gift, …).
Location : All classes take place At the studio in Ploemeur, for up to 3 students, or in Paris (4-6 students). We reserve the right to cancel a class up to four days before the date if the minimum number of students is not met, with the exception of a class where the student has made travel plans to attend a class at the studio in Bretagne.
Firing Service : 5 € + return postage for up to five jewelry pieces or small objects. Please make sure to properly protect the unfired pieces and send a description of the type of clay used and any additional materials or inclusions. Please remember to include enough returned postage with your payment.
Other Locations : Classes can also be held in Paris or the city of your choice upon request. The cost is 150 € per student plus travel, room and board expenses. Please don't hesitate to contact me to make arrangements for a special workshop.
